Habakkuk 1:5, 2:3, 2:20, 3:17
5 "Look at the nations and watch—
and be utterly amazed.
For I am going to do something in your days
that you would not believe,
even if you were told.
3 For the revelation awaits an appointed time;
it speaks of the end
and will not prove false.
Though it linger, wait for it;
it will certainly come and will not delay.
20 But the LORD is in his holy temple;
let all the earth be silent before him."
17 Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.
.. Habakkuk the prophet was really worried, perplexed, confused, and so entangled to the fact that God is "just allowing" the wickedness of Israel to continue.
.. The prophet had 2 complaints (in this book) and God responded to Him twice to give him full assurance of what God is going to do.
.. The last chapter talks about Habakkuk's conclusion of the matter - to wait and trust in God's sovereign time and power to do something towards the matter.
.. To wait and trust in God is to be rejoicing - not mourning or worrying about what God is going to do. (v. 18)
.. To believe that God has got all things figured out and no matter how much we complain about things, He has already seen things and have something planned for it.
.. God just wants us to rejoice - to wait in expectation and to "be silent before Him" for He knows what to do.
// BELLE:
.. Not complicated at all - what am I so worried about? I must trust that God's got some things already figured out on what to do for the things I am so concerned about.
.. I need to just remain "silent before God" - to shut my mouth and wait on Him
.. I need to rejoice because I am not capable of changing situations.
.. Even if I do not see immediate results, or see God's hand move (in my own terms), I must rejoice - to be glad and enjoy God's peace
.. I need to remember that all things are perfect in God's time in whatever situation.
// God, YOU ARE WORTHY to be praised. You do not need to hear my complaints but I should be giving praise to You. I have concerns, yet though I shouldn't, I do vent them out to You. I thank You for always being there to listen. No matter what, Your AGAPE love embraces me and takes me as I am. Forgive me for being so narrow-minded many times. I know my terms don't compare to the greatness of Yours. Help me to trust and wait on You in everything - in every situation and in every circumstance. I will rejoice in You - I will have fun more than I do now - and I will just believe that You will do something about the situations I have no control over. YOU ARE AMAZING. In Jesus' name, amen.
