1 Give ear to my words, O LORD,
consider my sighing.
2 Listen to my cry for help,
my King and my God,
for to you I pray.
3 In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my requests before you
and wait in expectation.
// THOUGHTS:
.. This is David who is just pouring out his hear to God.
.. Trusting that God is listening to his prayer
.. Expecting that God is hearing his plea
// BELLE:
.. I've poured out my heart to God several times - in fact, daily, especially at night when I "search my heart and being silent" (4:4).
"wait in expectation" = tsaphah: to look out or about, spy, keep watch
.. Just like David, when I pour my heart out to God, I must wait in expectation for what He's going to say in any way possible
.. I must start praising Him as I wait for His voice to speak; talk about who He is (v. 4-7)
.. It may be that God will speak immediately, and it may be that He will take His time
.. For what reason? Lots of reasons I cannot fully comprehend at this point
.. I must not grow weary when He doesn't tell me answers to my questions
.. I must persist and be diligent in pouring my heart out to God; trusting that He's the ONLY ONE who really can understand my daily circumstances
.. I must remember that the Lord listens to my cries, my sighing, even my complaints and heartaches. He knows all about me in and out.
.. I TRUST
.. I WILL BE ON THE LOOK OUT
.. I WILL KEEP WATCH
.. This is what it means to "wait in expectation"
// Lord, how awesome is Your Word. Thank you for such an awesome reminder of Your goodness in my life. You truly are great. Thank you for listening to me daily - I thank you for being my confidant, my friend, and my Master - who guides me through everyday decisions. Thank you for helping me grow in the things I want and need to change. Please empower me continuously as I go on and progress in it. With You, I know I can do all things. I love you so much. In Jesus' name, amen.
