Job 1:20-22; 2:10
20Then Job arose and rent his robe and shaved his head and fell down upon the ground and worshiped
21And said, Naked (without possessions) came I [into this world] from my mother's womb, and naked (without possessions) shall I depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; blessed (praised and magnified in worship) be the name of the Lord!
22In all this Job sinned not nor charged God foolishly.
10But he said to her, You speak as one of the impious and foolish women would speak. What? Shall we accept [only] good at the hand of God and shall we not accept [also] misfortune and what is of a bad nature? In [spite of] all this, Job did not sin with his lips.
// JOB:
.. we all know how faithful of a believer Job was
.. he prayed for his family as his regular custom (1:5b)
.. yet when trials came his way - when God stripped away everything from him, he remained faithful and did not curse God
// BELLE:
.. these are very familiar verses; Job's story
.. I've received all great things from God, I've praised Him for them
.. when I have been tried with things (God taking away things and people I love and care about in the past) I admit that I have asked God "Why?" in spite of my faithfulness to Him.
.. I have no right to ask that - God is sovereign in all He does
.. after all, He just wanted to test me if I would still remain in Him - and obey Him no matter what the cost
.. YES, i've asked Him that, but daily, it has been a constant choice to choose HIM and praise Him no matter what comes along my way
.. whether I get hurt or get so happy to the point of heartily fulfillment, I must Praise God! He is deserving of all my praises.
.. Job remained faithful, as a regular custom, in sacrificing a burnt offering for each of his children - How faithful am I in praying for the people I love? Perhaps they too may have sinned against God?
.. This tells me that God accepts the offering and sacrifice of a righteous person on behalf of them.
The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. (James 1:16).. I am honored to pray on their behalf
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil." (1 Peter 3:12)
.. I must be faithful in lifting them up in prayer to God
// LORD, thank you for this reminder. You are worthy of ALL things, circumstances, situations, life's ups and downs, etc. Please forgive me for questioning You for the things that has happened in the past in my life. Help me to be faithful daily in praying for those I love; to not give up in praying for them. I also pray that You will prepare me for whatever circumstance that will come along my way - whether good or bad, I WILL PRAISE YOU because YOU DESERVE IT! In Jesus' name, amen.
