“New Thing”

Isaiah 43:18-19

18 “Forget the former things;
   do not dwell on the past.
19 See, I am doing a new thing!
   Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
   and streams in the wasteland.

God is the only God who does not keep records of wrongs or the “former things” nor does He dwell on the past.  Why should we?

He is the God who makes all things new, making a way in the wilderness or in the desert when things seem hot and silent, creating streams in a wasteland - “an area that is devastated, as by flood, storm, or war or land that is uncultivated or barren. [dictionary]” Basically, He creates the impossible things and makes way for them to happen according to His pleasure and sovereignty!

When the Lord told the Israelites to forget the former things and things of the past, He is somehow reminding them of what He’s done in the past as well – did miracles, split the Red Sea, and now, releasing them from Babylon.

Anticipate the miracle of God in our life by looking into the “new thing” that God is going to do; and going past our past because God has Himself.

// I am indeed in this new phase of life and I am grateful to God for all that He’s already done.  I will forget the past and all the former things; in fact, I have been in that process for a while now, and just seeing the “new thing” God is laying before me.  Even during the time of “wilderness” and “deserts,” God has made a way for me… creating streams in what was devastated.  SIGH.

// Thank you Lord!  You are so good.  I can’t wait for what the “new thing” is going to be at its fullest.  I will never give up on You!  I will serve You, I will honor You with my life! In Jesus’ name, amen.
