Isaiah 55:10-11

10 As the rain and the snow
   come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
   without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

When the Lord speaks, whether through the Word, audibly, persons, or within our spirit, it will “not return to Him empty…” just as water or snow does not return to heaven without doing it's job – watering the earth and making it bud and flourish.

The ground is completely dependent on what comes to them – they have no will of their own.  Man, however, does have a will and sometimes resists the work of the Word.  If we are just able to let the Word cultivate us, water us, make us bud, flourish us then we’d be able to yield seeds and bread – productive and fruitful to what God has intended for us to be according to His Word.

// I will allow the Word to shape me, to water my life, to make me bud and flourish that it may accomplish its purpose in my life – that people may see Christ and the Word of God at work in my life.  When my will opposes to the Word, I must adjust and let the Word take over.  The Word wins at all times!

// Lord, thank You that your Word is the living truth.  I pray that You will help me to be obedient and submissive to Your will through what Your Word says.  Thank you that Your promises are yes and amen, and that it will always be accomplishing its work within me that people “eat” the “bread” you have built in me through the fulfillment of Your Word.  In Jesus’ name, amen.
