10 Give generously to the poor, not grudgingly, for the Lord your God will bless you in everything you do. 11 There will always be some in the land who are poor.
The point of this is to be generous, not grudging. Yes, there will always be someone who is in need -- it is inevitable. We cannot give to everyone, however, this verse reminds us to be generous no matter what - to not have a grudging geat when we give. It's a matter of the motive than it is for the command to give.
If I can, I will. When I can, I must. When I have, I will also give. Who is in need, who is asking for help, what can I give? We only are grudgingly giving when we don't want to give, not cause we don't have but because we choose not to. Are we willing to give out of our own will? God will not ask us of it if we don't have it...
Work -- if I can't give anymore, i shouldn't. I will not be a good steward if I keep giving even if I don't have anymore to give, or that I do not have enough. There will always be a need.
Church -- both churches are in need. Are we able to let go to provide of others' need which at the same time provides for our need? God doesn't want us to give when we also do not have anything to give.
Give what you can, the Lord will bless you more. When you have, give generously. When you can't give anymore, be a good steward and give only when you can.
// Lord, thank You for your Word that always brings peace to the questions we have. I want to seek you more and just trust that You know best what to do. I just commit everything to you. You are the God of peace and direction. In Jesus' name, amen.
