To Speak or To Be Silent

8 The wise in heart accept commands,
but a chattering fool comes to ruin.

19 Sin is not ended by multiplying words,
but the prudent hold their tongues.

Proverbs 10:8, 19

This chapter talks a lot about the difference between a chattering tongue and one who holds their tongues.

verse 31 says, "From the mouth of the righteous comes the fruit of wisdom,    but a perverse tongue will be silenced."
Quick lesson:

Keep a tight reign on your tongue.
A person who talks too much will eventually say something wrong or hurtful.
Best at times to stay quiet.

Today - I need to know the boundary on when to speak and when to be silent.  At times, I tend to just want to make conversations because 'it's too quiet'.  Yet, there are times for both speaking and being silent.  I need to make sure I am aware when to be such when the time calls for it.

Lord, help me to be aware and discerning when it's time to speak and time to talk.  I don't want to be a chattering fool - one who just blurts outs anything.  But let my words be seasoned that those may hear it will benefit and be encouraged.  Let every word that come out of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing before you just like the Psalmist said.  Thank you Jesus for such a beautiful reminder of your truth.  You are indeed alive and active in Your words of truth.  In Jesus' name, amen.
