It Affects Them

Wk 39 Day 6

Obadiah 3-4

3 The pride of your heart has deceived you,
you who live in the clefts of the rocks
and make your home on the heights,
you who say to yourself,
'Who can bring me down to the ground?'

4 Though you soar like the eagle
and make your nest among the stars,
from there I will bring you down,"
declares the LORD.

.. I can't help but think that the reason why Edom was cursed was because of how everything originated - Esau (Genesis 27)
.. Esau (Father of Edom) must have harbored pride and unforgiveness in his heart because of the 2 main events that happened to him and his brother Jacob - Genesis 27:36, who deceived him twice by taking his birthright and the blessing from their father Isaac.

.. There are times when life may seem unjust
.. Of course there were a lot of factors that happened in between those times with Esau and Jacob as well. Some people have interpretations as to why God chose Jacob - tho he was the deceiver.

.. A few things I see here:
  • regardless of the injustices that we face daily, it is not an excuse for us to be prideful or harbor bitterness towards anyone
  • we must trust that God is a just God - that tho it may seem unfair for us to experience pain (often times caused by our own free will - HAH!) - HE wants us to respond back with humility and full confidence in Him
.. OBADIAH - a vision seen about Edom
  • Edom was doomed to be destroyed
  • Tells me that God is powerful enough that even anyone or anything powerful on earth can't compare to the vastness power of God who is able to destroy anything in His sovereign power - whenever, however.

.. MORE on Edom
  • Esau being the father of Edom, brought down a curse. Tells me that our actions affect not only ourselves but even as wide as a nation

// APPS:

.. My actions affect other people - immediate family, friends, my decisions, my ministries, my life in general and even the people around me.
.. I must be careful on the things that I do because God will judge me according to what I do. Yes, His grace is sufficient, yet, does not give me an excuse to do whatever I want or I think is best.
.. TOTAL SURRENDER daily! Think of others when we do things. Thus, the great commandment!

// Lord, You are a just God. I pray that you will give me the ability to be able to love [agape]. You are LOVE and IN YOU there is justice. I know I am responsible for my actions - I pray that I will be sensitive to the leading of YOUR SPIRIT in all that I do. Please help me! Guide me because I want to be a blessing to others by the things that I do. In Jesus' name, amen.
