Wk 52 Day 4
Psalm 149:1
Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints.
// SONG:
.. melody
.. harmony
.. words
// THOUGHTS:
.. we can praise the Lord in songs
.. we can praise the Lord in melodies
.. in harmonies
.. in words set to music
.. singing to the Lord is one way of expressing our thanks and adoration to Him.
.. "in the congregation of saints" is singing our "hal-lu Yah"s together in the assembly of saints - the church
.. hence, we have praise and worship
// BELLE:
.. if at times when I "run out" of words to say about God; when my prayer becomes a little stagnant at times and I'm stuck - I can always sing to Him. I will not withhold anything to Him in song - anything that will give praise to His name, I will do.
.. He has given me the ability to make beautiful music, I will use it - during the assembly of the saints and when I am in my own quiet time with Him.
.. I will use what I have - the ability to make music - to praise Him.
.. "when the praises go up, the blessings come down" - not a bad idea!
.. God encourages the saints to sing songs to HIM in praise - we should make good music for God; not mediocre music that sounds ordinary.
.. Even if it sounds "ordinary" tho, what matters is the heart - description and tastes for music is subjective to each person - therefore, whatever sounds pleasing to the heart and ears of God, that's what we [I] need to aim for.
.. I must always evaluate when I play and sing for Him - where's my heart? It must always be for a sole purpose - to Praise GOD!
.. I won't play or sing in a mediocre manner because God deserves more than mere songs - He deserves music played with the right heart.
.. I WILL GO ALL OUT IN MAKING MUSIC FOR THE GLORY OF GOD!
// Lord, thanks for reminding me of this. I was wondering why this verse stuck out so much. At first, I didn't know why - but now I am reminded that as a musician, I am called not only to make music but to make music solely to give glory and praise to You - both in my own communion times with You and during the congregation of the saints. Help me to flow out music with gladness and joy - full of praises from deep within my soul - declaring who YOU REALLY ARE; One who is worthy of all my praises and honor. Give me music that will please Your ears and your heart. In Jesus' name, amen.
