Yes is Yes, No is No!

1 Kings 1:29-30
The king then took an oath: "As surely as the LORD lives, who has delivered me out of every trouble, 30 I will surely carry out today what I swore to you by the LORD, the God of Israel: Solomon your son shall be king after me, and he will sit on my throne in my place."

// THOUGHTS:

.. The Lord is serious about the vows that we make before Him - whether it be the promises we made to other people or directly to God.
.. David did not forget what he swore to Bathsheba about having Solomon precede him as king; but David was reminded of what he promised when Adonijah forced himself to be king rebelliously (without telling David about it)
.. David was able to carry out the will of God to have Solomon follow him as king by keeping his oath

// BELLE:

.. In the same way, I ought to be sure and true to the oaths I made before God - whether it be through other people or directly to God Himself.
.. I know I have broken a lot of promises - small or big. This time, I need to make sure that my yes will be yes, and no be no.
.. How can I expect God's will to unfold if I am not able to follow through what I have promised? God is a just God. He is sure with His promises; He will do what He says He will do. As His child, I ought to be the same. If I have His Spirit in me, I ought to operate in line with with how He does things as well.
.. God can do His will with or without my help, but He is serious with the things I promised to Him about. He means business with my oaths to Him. I am an extension of God's hand and His will can be accomplished through me. I need to take Him seriously even more than I am now. I need to organize my life more carefully that I will be able to carry out what I said I would do. Doing things on time, without lagging and making sure I am up to par - only by the grace of God of course.
.. This seems very perfectionist and difficult, but I know that God will enable me. I need to have my will be totally in-line with God. Learn how to say yes to what I am sure about; and no to the things I am not sure about.

// LORD, please be with me. Help me to be more stable in my oaths. Help me to follow through with what I said I would do. I know I am not perfect, but with Your help and power, I know I can avail of the power that You have and can provide for me. Holy Spirit, may You be my strength and guide. I need YOU every single day. Just as David was faithful to his word, help me to be the same - faithful to my word; especially that You are most faithful with Your word. May I be a vessel to carry out Your will on earth in my circle of influence. Thank you for the opportunity to be used by You. I am completely honored, and I will humbly serve You with the best that I can with the abilities and talents You have given to me. Thank you Lord. I love You, in Jesus' name amen.
