Week 6 Day 7 (cont)
Leviticus 15-17
Leviticus 15:31
“‘You must keep the Israelites separate from things that make them unclean, so they will not die in their uncleanness for defiling my dwelling place, which is among them.’”
As I was reading chapter 15, I wondered why God would have all these details in the Bible. Then it clicked to me that this is the Levites' guide for what to do as priests - what defiles who, etc. It made me think the importance of a "guideline book" where it gives us the dividing line of what causes God's people to be unholy and thus, "defiling" God's dwelling place - his temple.
In our case in the New Testament age, our guideline book is the written Word of God. The dividing line of what causes us and God's temple (our bodies) to get defiled is the sin that we allow in us (in all the nooks of our being; may it be our hearts, minds, motives, etc).
Therefore, just as God told the Levites to keep the Israelites separate from what could make them unclean, in the same way, we must separate ourselves as well from what causes us to "defile" us thus, making us unclean (with sin).
// To do's:
Romans 12:1-2
Hebrews 12:1
2 Timothy 2:4
1 Peter 2:5
// BELLE:
Smooth. God's Word is my guideline. Sin is what I have to constantly separate myself from (the practical denial of myself, not the positional since Christ has already done that for me).
If there's any hint of causing me to get "defiled" thus making me "unclean" in the sight of God, I must separate myself immediately. Cut it off my thoughts, etc.
// Lord, thank You for giving us your written Word. I pray that I will have the heart to fully obey everything You have commanded me to do. To love You and to love others - I pray that You will help me to receive that empowerment You have already given me to live a godly life. In Jesus' name, amen.
