Week 7 Day 1
Leviticus 18-19; Psalm 13; Acts 19
Acts 19:24
A silversmith named Demetrius, who made silver shrines of Artemis, brought in a
Demetrius was a man who sold silver shrines of the goddess, Artemis. God called us to have no other gods; therefore, selling idols was sinful. However, either Demetrius was innocent about this or he knew right out but didn't care since he was a pagan himself. When Paul was preaching about The Way, Demetrius was threatened since his business was going down as people were responding to Paul's preaching and were getting saved.
Principles:
.. Whether innocently or rebelliously, God's call in our life could sometimes become a "threat" to our way of living (our careers)
.. However, we know that when we obey God's call in our lives, we have nothing to fear because He is true to His Word and He knows what He is doing even if we don't comprehend His will fully.
Trust and obey the call of God in your life no matter what the cost.
// This is a great reminder for me after the fact that I've already responded to the call of God in my life to go full time in the ministry. What an affirmation! God has showed Himself to me in ways that I cannot believe - especially in provision; and just recently it happened again! He is faithful. //
Perhaps, someone needs to read this to be given an "umph" of God's call in their life. To trust and obey His call no matter what the cost - even if it "threatens" their career. Anyway, no such thing really threatens our career because God holds our future and He knows what's best for us. We just have to obey and do what needs to be done on our part and He'll take care of the rest to take us to where He wants us to be.
If you're one who's reading this and needed to hear this, please let me know. I'd love to hear how you have responded to God's call in your life and how this reading of mine has been used to help others direct them (as one of a confirmation, perhaps) to God's call in their life.
// Lord, You are faithful and I believe in Your plans being great and the best. You have proven that to me, please help others to allow you to prove that in their lives as well. Use me to bring that "umph" in their lives. In Jesus' name, amen.
