Week 9 Day 2.5

Numbers 21-23

Numbers 23:19-20
¹⁹ God is not human, that he should lie,
   not a human being, that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act?
   Does he promise and not fulfill?
²⁰ I have received a command to bless;
   he has blessed, and I cannot change it. 

This was Balaam's second oracle from the Lord to Balak when he asked him (Balaam) to curse the Israelites as they enter and fight Moab. 

Many instances has happened that prevailed the Lord's command and where the servants (both Moses and Balaam) obeyed:

Numbers 21:8, 34; 22:12, 20, 34-35

 ⁸ The LORD said to Moses, “Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.”

³⁴ The LORD said to Moses, “Do not be afraid of him, for I have delivered him into your hands, along with his whole army and his land. Do to him what you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon.”

¹² But God said to Balaam, “Do not go with them. You must not put a curse on those people, because they are blessed.” 

 ²⁰ That night God came to Balaam and said, “Since these men have come to summon you, go with them, but do only what I tell you.”

³⁴ Balaam said to the angel of the LORD, “I have sinned. I did not realize you were standing in the road to oppose me. Now if you are displeased, I will go back.”
 ³⁵ The angel of the LORD said to Balaam, “Go with the men, but speak only what I tell you.” So Balaam went with Balak’s officials.

What's common was that, Moses and Balaam obeyed the Lord's word.  Even with Balaam's "nudging" through the horse blocked by the angel, Balaam's heart was still only to only the Lord.

Remember, God's does not lie.
He doesn't change His mind.
He speaks and acts (in fact, it happens as He speaks it)
He promises and fulfills.
He blesses and will not change it.

It's still the same call for me.  Whatever He's already said, He will carry that through.  Reminder from yesterday:  No human effort (manipulation of human effort to carry out God's plan prematurely).  JUST BELIEVE, TRUST, and OBEY! 

Lord, thank you for such great examples to follow.  I pray that You will help me to be obedient and have a heart that truly follows and obey you regardless what the cost.  Whatever You say, I will follow.  Please help me to receive your empowerment as You have already given it to me.  Please direct my thoughts to only be encouraged to move up and on to then next step You want me to do.  YOU ARE GOOD!  In Jesus' name, amen.
