Week 20 Day 5
1 Kings 3; 2 Chro. 1; Psalm 78; 1 Th. 2

1 Kings 3:9-12
So give me the wisdom I need to rule your people with justice and to know the difference between good and evil. Otherwise, how would I ever be able to rule this great people of yours?
10 The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this,11 and so he said to him,
Because you have asked for the wisdom to rule justly, instead of long life for yourself or riches or the death of your enemies,12 I will do what you have asked. I will give you more wisdom and understanding than anyone has ever had before or will ever have again.

When Solomon asked for wisdom, it was for the gain of God's people, not for himself.  Hence, God was pleased and gave him more than what he needed or asked.

Lesson:
The Lord is pleased when our ultimate goal is to bring glory to the Lord and to have an unselfish heart.  Have we checked what kind of prayers we've been offering to Him lately?  Are they for our own good or are they for the good of others and/or for the glory of God?

I need to constantly keep an "others" mindset all the time.  That my desires (even ones that are personal) are always led towards the glory of God and for the good of His people.  This I know, the Lord will be pleased with when my heart is humble to put others first, ahead of my own and especially ones that will bring glory to the Lord at all times.

>>>

Lord, life is truly all about love You and loving others.  It never said that I need to love myself.  I pray that you change my thinking to always be others-minded; to always care for their good and to always be thinking about what good it can bring to them for your glory.  With this, I know that you have the sovereign power to just also pour out your guidance and wisdom and blessings in my life as you see it fit.  Help me to have an unselfish heart always.  In Jesus' name, amen.
