Psalm 112:1-2; 5-8
1 Praise the LORD.
Blessed are those who fear the LORD,
who find great delight in his commands.
2 Their children will be mighty in the land;
the generation of the upright will be blessed.
5 Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely,
who conduct their affairs with justice.
6 Surely the righteous will never be shaken;
they will be remembered forever.
7 They will have no fear of bad news;
their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the LORD.
8 Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear;
in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.
Oh the righteous:
- one who delights in God’s commands
- one whose generation is blessed
- one whom good comes
- one who conducts his affairs justly
- one who will be remembered forever
- one who is steadfast
- one whose heart is secure
- one who has no fear
- one who is victorious
All these and more, is summed up to one thing, righteousness.
// All these I desire to do. As the Psalmist said, ““I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart.”” (Psalm 40:8), so do I also desire to do the will of God daily in my life. Today, I will continually “die to self” and honor the Lord. Because great is the reward of those who do the will of God. I want to be a person who is known to be someone who ALWAYS does the will of God in every situation.
On a more personal note – with the things that “shake” me, I must remain steadfast by trusting in the Lord'. He has a plan for me and He will not let me down. I must believe that what comes in the future is what is best for me according to His perfect blueprint. I must be steadfast and know the truth of God’s Word (not believing in or shaken by the “bad news” that I may hear whether through others or through my own voice.)
// Lord, what wonderful promises you have for the upright and the righteous. I pray that You will help me to choose every step I take; that it is a reflection of my relationship with You, a deep and intimate relationship of God my Father. I trust in You. Help me to choose to trust in You at times when it seems uncertain… when my old self takes hold of my actions or my feelings. Please help me to live according to Your planned will for me; that I will be sensitive to You always and hearing Your convictions even to the smallest detail of my thoughts. Thank You that You care for me, so much more than I care for myself. You are wonderful to me Oh Lord. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! In Jesus’ name, amen.
