2 Peter 2:9
4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell,[a] putting them in chains of darkness[b] to be held for judgment; 5 if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others; 6 if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly; 7 and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the depraved conduct of the lawless 8 (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)—
“if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment.”
God is just!
He does not overlook the things we do for Him; nor does He forget about us and the trials that we face in life. He sees all things.
We can be rest assured that God will rescue us as He did for Noah and Lot from the unrighteous people they lived with.
This also is a warning to those who may constantly opt to do things other than the will of God – that judgment awaits them as well. We must, at any cost, resist the temptation to be lured into disobedience and rebellion against the Lord. But rather, persevere in the trials that we face every day for we know that “the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials.”
// More devotions on trials for me --- WHY? Because daily, I struggle to do the will of God when my flesh wants to do whatever it wants to do. However, I will not let the enemy win. At times when it’s hard to do what is right (as small as working out, having self-control in food intake, or being more organized with my time and energy) I must push forward and know that God’s grace will enable me to push beyond what my flesh wants to do otherwise. PUSH, PUSH, PUSH and NOT SHRINK BACK by getting discouraged or by getting lazy to do what is right. GOD IS MY GRACE TO DO THE GODLY THINGS!
3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
2 Peter 1:3
// LORD, you know my struggles and my times when I don’t want to push. Help me to endure the trials of life esp. the small ones. You have guided me through the hard times, how much more with the small ones. Please be with me Lord and help me to just focus on You – the giver of strength, the source of grace and enablement, and the Person who has divine power given to me for a godly lifestyle! You are my life and without You, I will really be lost and out of control! I just lift this up to YOU, my needs, these trials of pushing myself and everything that goes along with that. I praise YOU and I thank YOU in Jesus’ name, amen.
