Luke 4:9-10
9 The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down from here. 10 For it is written:
“‘He will command his angels concerning you
to guard you carefully;
>> The Word of God is there to confirm the promises of God.
The Word of God guides us to do things; not to cause us to take a “fake leap of faith” leading to the wrong direction.
When we read the Word, it is important that we understand what the Lord is speaking to us about through the context of each verse/chapter/book.
The result of applying God’s Word is a TRUE ACT OF FAITH; it is a guide to LIVE BY FAITH
If we are starting to quote scriptures and the actions we have in our lives as supposed to be “application” to these scriptures we just read, then we need to examine to see if we are applying them correctly or if we are twisting what it is saying – that’s what the devil did to Jesus – he twisted the Word.
>> Be careful to be misquoting or misreading or misinterpreting the Word.
A good indicator to the result of God’s Word (or even a Word from the Lord) is when it is TRUE to its context and TRUE APPLICATION of what it was meant for.
When it is causing us to take a “fake leap of faith” which then is not being true to God’s Word, then we know the application of the Word may not be true, is faulted, and its used wrong.
God’s Word corrects the wrong; even if we are using the Word itself to supposed to be “correct a wrong.”
BE TRUE TO THE WORD IN ITS TRUEST FORM AND MEANING.
What is one scripture I know the Lord is using to minister to me? Am I applying it right? Am I led to do a genuine leap of faith in application to it? Or has it caused me to take a “fake leap of faith” thinking that it is “of faith?”
I will just be keen and sensitive to the Word that I hear and even the ones I read in His Word. I need to make sure that I test them and that I am sure at applying them in the right way as what they are meant to be. If I hear a Word from the Lord, I need to test it. If it’s straight from the Word of God, I need to make sure I understand the context and receive Rhema from God; if it’s through another person, I need to test to make sure I am not led to a faulty “leap of faith.” I will just be careful.
>> Lord, I just thank You for Your reminder to make sure that I test the Word that I receive and to make sure that I understand Your Scriptures as well as Jesus did so I will not be swayed into the “twistings” of the devil. I pray that You will help me to be careful not to take the “faulty leap of faiths” because “I am obeying the Word.” I do not understand all these right now, but I know that there’s a purpose to this reading that I have. I will just trust in You! Thank YOU for Your Word that is everlasting and never fading. I love You Jesus, in Your name, amen.
