Matthew 27:52-53
52 The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. 53 They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus’ resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people.
This ain't no ordinary day. When Jesus gave us his spirit (v. 50) something happened - the curtains split into two, the rocks split, and the earth shook (v. 51). IT'S BEEN FINISHED! Christ's death on the cross brought about the fulfillment of God's love to mankind - salvation once and for all! AND besides that, other amazing things happened - death did not hold the 'holy people' in the tomb as well. They were also raised to life and they also came out of the tombs, went into the holy city and appeared to many people. This is not just 1 person - this is 'holy people' - PEOPLE is a lot! Why did God allow this happen? God only knows. However, what's obvious is for us to know that death has no sting to those who 'holy' through the blood of Christ that cleanses us from all impurities of sin.
On a practical note - we can think that there are those that has been put to death in our lives; perhaps, dreams, visions, fulfillment of our goals, etc. Yet, in the same way God has brought to life - in physical form - those who were holy, so can he 'raise to life' the items in our lives that's been put to death. If we remain faithful and holy and be led by the spirit of God, we know that even those that's been 'dead' in us will be 'raised to life'.
Do I believe in the power of God that can raise any dead to life? YES! Then start acting in it. God is all-powerful to raise the dead in me. It's true that there are those deaths in my life that I need to allow God to raise back to life - some dreams, plans, motivation to read extensively of God's word (as better than before), successes, relationships (romantic and platonic), etc. I will let him raise them up. I will 'release my spirit' to Him as Jesus did and have let go of His will - allowing God's ways to rule, even if it means death on the cross. I need to continually die to self and just allow God to be the center. DIE TO SELF!
Lord, I repent from the thought that the items that's been 'put to death' in my life whether through my words or others will never be 'raise to life' again. I pray that as I believe in your raising the physical dead back to life, help me to even more believe that You can do something of the unseen - that I will have more faith and my actions be led to my belief. I trust that in Your time, you will shake things up - perhaps, when I 'give up my spirit' to you in certain aspects of it. Thank you for revealing that to me. Help me to let everything go to Your ways and your plans and your ultimate power to do things much much better than what I can do - minute being. Forgive me Lord that I've hung on to some of these things in my own ways and accord. I am unworthy. Help me to let them go to you - I lift these up to you and including 'my spirit', let it be YOURS and IN YOU ALONE! IN JESUS' NAME the spirit of death has no power over me by the blood of Christ. I love You God! You are great and awesome! In Jesus' name, amen.
