Pleasing

Proverbs 16:7
When a man's ways are pleasing to The Lord, he makes even his enemies live at peace with him.
v. 23
A wise man's heart guides his mouth, and his lips promote instruction.

These are two verses that tell me of a person who's pleasant and wise - one who just goes on with his ways and pleases The Lord and one whose mouth is guided by his heart (with a heart that also pleases The Lord).

There has been times when my 'enemies' (those who I get annoyed with for the most part) just need to be literally dismissed in my mind so I do not go crazy. Yet, in v. 7 it says that when my ways are pleasing to The Lord, my enemies would live at peace with me. The correlation between my-pleasant-to-The-Lord actions and my 'enemies' seem to be far apart. Yet, somehow, The Lord makes that work. It's kind of like a conditional statement - if our ways are pleasant to The Lord, even our enemies will live at peace with us. My job is just to be pleasing to The Lord at all times and even my 'enemies' will live at peace with me.

v. 23 on the other hand tells us of those who are wise - their lips would promote instruction because it just flows from the heart. Do I have a heart that instructs? Is it pure out of my heart (since I naturally provide instruction)? If I am wise, then my heart should be filled with wise instructions that my lips would propel. True wisdom only comes from The Lord. Be pleasant to The Lord and know that things will go into place as they should.

// Lord, thank you for this assurance and reminder. Help me just always be pleasing to you in everything that I do. When I am alone or at work or at home, help me, in my entire being, to be holy and pleasing to You as my act of worship. Convict my heart of anything that does not please you in any way. Even with the people that annoy me, help me to just know that You got that under control - I just need to live holy and pleasing before you. Please help me God. In Jesus' name, amen.
