Acts 5:38-39
Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. 39 But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.”
Human Origin = Does not last
God Origin = Will last
.. Gamaliel had the most logical reason.
.. If a person is hyped up for something and there's a following, it normally dies down when it's coming from impure motives. That is a mark of something that will really last..
Going right into it, I am currently at a Coffeebar Kitchen. I have always dreamed of having my own - similar to this, but I have yet to find out if this is something God really wants me to do - and why. I want to examine my motives in every endeavor that I do because if it's coming from God, I know that it will last - versus just doing things on my own (regardless of its following).
In everything that I do, I must make sure it is really God's and not just me. Thus, on a practical level, I must seek Him out every day - with all my heart- not allowing any distractions to hinder God's voice while I am seeking Him and His voice. When He wants to direct me into something (whether the coffee shop or going back to school or leaving my work or getting into a new one or staying or whatever), I know that He will let me know the motive behind it. I just need to continually seek Him out.
// LORD, you know that I care about what You say and Your word. I honor YOU and I try to do that in every way I can. Help me to grow in my knowledge and my time in seeking you to grow all the more. I know that when things are in your care, You always come through and things will last. You have put me where I am now for a reason, so I will just follow You and obey you no matter the cost. Help me to do that and to have the strength to do so. I commit everything to you - I am hopeful of my dreams and visions in the future knowing that You will help me align myself with the right motives to do them. In Jesus' name, amen.
