One day as we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a young servant woman who had an evil spirit that enabled her to predict the future. She earned a lot of money for her owners by telling fortunes. She followed Paul and us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God! They announce to you how you can be saved!” She did this for many days, until Paul became so upset that he turned around and said to the spirit, “In the name of Jesus Christ I order you to come out of her!” The spirit went out of her that very moment. (Acts 16:16-18 GNT)
It is interesting to know that even though we speak the truth about something, there is still a level of telling the truth where it becomes abhorred. Why so? This girl was a fortune teller. She definitely was telling the truth. What made Paul cast it out of her was the fact that she had done this out of bounds. There is a time and a place for everything. Anything good that is outdone and is not in proper place doesn't become a blessing to others anymore but an overdoing of good.. Which then we start to question the motive of the person.
What good thing have I outdone in the name of truth? I need to keep a balance in speaking the truth and knowing the right time to speak about them and talk about the them. If anyone I know is ogling out of bounds in the name of truth, I need to rebuke them by the power of God that will enable me to do so. For myself, keep a balance of knowing when and how often to speak the truth so I can effective.
// Lord, please help me to keep a balance on when and how to keep the truth in real alignment of your ways. Help me to be able to distinguish those who may also have gone out of bounds and be able to rebuke them in the name of Jesus. I do this only to bring the glory back to you in Jesus' name, amen.
