Matthew 21:13
13 He said to them, The Scripture says, My house shall be called a house of prayer; but you have made it a den of robbers.
Though the exact context of this was the fact the people turned the temple into a marketplace, the principle stands that the house of God is for communion and fellowship with God - prayer, worship, a place to serve the Lord, etc. Yet, we know that at times we have made the church of God to be a 'den of robbers'. Robbers of hearts, robbers of dreams, robbers of the true significance of what the temple of God is for.
As believers who work for the Kingdom of God, may we not mistaken the temple of God to be a 'marketplace' for personal agenda, motives, and will. May it be solely used for what it is intended for - a house of prayer, worship, and serving. All in all, we ought to remember that if our actions are now 'marketing' to other people who are in the church (whether it be literally speaking or 'marketing' to advance personal agendas with programs, etc.), then we have missed the purpose of the 'temple of God.' Let us preserve the temple of God to be a haven of fellowship and communion with God.
// AMEN! Not my agenda but God's. My job in the Kingdom is to bring people to the 'temple' of God to fellowship and commune with Him. To teach people of the same principle - not to use the 'temple' as a place of 'marketing' (the hearts of people, lust, advancement of personal agenda, etc) but rather it is where we commune with God in worship and prayer. I will hold the 'temple' of God in high regard - to not be a factor for allowing 'robbers' to come in because we have made it into a 'marketplace'.
// Lord, thank you for great insight. Indeed, sometimes the church is used to advance other things besides what it's meant to be. May we be continually communing with You in the church; going there with the right intentions and motives - not for personal agendas but for people to meet You in their spiritual walk. Guide me Lord as you have placed me in this position for a reason. May I be an example to that. In Jesus' name, amen.
