Do as You Promised

25“And now, Lord God, keep forever the promise you have made concerning your servant and his house. Do as you promised, 26 so that your name will be great forever. Then people will say, ‘The Lord Almighty is God over Israel!’ And the house of your servant David will be established in your sight. -2 Samuel 7:25-26

David's attitude is commendable. 'Do as you promised' is a statement of complete trust that God has a bigger perspective; that anything that comes through in his life brought by God, it is to establish the Name of God forever!

Whatever comes through in our life that is brought about by God himself, it is for the purpose of establishing the name of God forever - for people to know that He is God and He is in control of all things.

There are indeed things in my life that I know God has brought about to bring glory to His name alone - my singleness, my job, my calling to full-time ministry, my family, Julia, etc.  It is through the things that God brings in my life that His name is exalted.  I must continually release to the Lord whatever it is that worries me  to 'build' things in my own power and name instead of allowing God to be the one to build them.  I will trust that in my calling to serve in the 'sacred' field, I will be provided for, I will have everything that I need in accordance to the riches of God, I will be satisfied, and that I will be a blessing to others as well.  On a daily basis, I will say 'Do as You promised, so that your name will be great forever'.

// Lord, help me to trust in You.  As You navigate my life daily, help me to trust that You know which way to take me; that I can trust You to protect, guide, provide, and lead me to where you need me to be so Your name will be great forever in my life.  In Jesus' name, amen.
