Recall

Recalling your tears, I long to see you, so that I may be filled with joy. I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. (2 Timothy 1:4, 5 NIV)

I remember your tears, and I want to see you very much, so that I may be filled with joy. I remember the sincere faith you have, the kind of faith that your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice also had. I am sure that you have it also. (2 Timothy 1:4, 5 GNB)

There is power in recalling. Whether it be for the good or bad, recalling has some sort of effect on us.  Paul was moved to see the people whom he loved just "recalling their tears..."

When I read this, I remember my family in the Philippines. May I be moved as I "recall the tears" - perhaps, the hardships, the difficulty of others. That I will not be stagnant in my current feelings because I am comfortable where I am or be too focused of my own hardships (like Paul was in prison). May I recall and remember others that I may be moved by it, thus resulting to actions.

Lord, help me to be more sensitive to others - especially their hardships and their longings. That I may not be too concerned of my own hardships but that I will be concerned of others as well... Even more so, be moved by them. In Jesus' name, amen.
