Holy vs. Common

So he measured the area on all four sides. It had a wall around it, five hundred cubits long and five hundred cubits wide, to separate the holy from the common. (Ezekiel 42:20 NIV)

There is a difference between the holy and the common. And they are distinguished by "a wall".

We see that God is very detailed in the vision that He have to Ezekiel.  God was very specific and not haphazard in His job.  With that, it shows us that we can indeed differentiate the "holy" and the "common". Though this is talking about the room for the priests who entered to offer sacrifices, it carries to us the same principle of putting a boundary on what is holy and what is common.

When it is for The Lord, we render it holy. When don't become mediocre in the things we do that are consecrated to Him. As well, to not be easily crossing the line to what's "common" thinking we can just make what's holy, common. We ought to separate the two by a boundary.

Must always be a time to keep the holy thigs holy. What's common is imperfect and ordinary work - not quite excellent. I must be excellent in my work - especially those that are truly consecrated for Him alone.  May i not just be common - slightly imperfect and ordinary. I am made to be excellent and holy as Christ is. So i must do so.

// Lord for the awesome revelation on your holiness and your standards.  I know I've always failed many times but i know that through your strength, i can overcome and be able to be holy all the way.  In Jesus' name amen!
