Though they knew Jesusw as God, they still did what was customary and what was needed as normal citizens. We may have an affirmed calling from The Lord, but it didn't mean we go out of order of what the law requires of us. The Lord will never violate His word nor contradict it. Yes at times it seems like it is contraditcding but all it is is to show that Jesus had balance - the purpose to bring salvation as well as to do the norm of a citizen. Jesus' earthly family did both.
I ought to be the same.
Lord, help me to balance it out that I may be a testimony to those who don't know you yet. In Jesus' name, amen,
