In the Last Days

Wk 29 Day 7

Luke 21:34 (AMP)
34But take heed to yourselves and be on your guard, lest your hearts be overburdened and depressed (weighed down) with the giddiness and headache and nausea of self-indulgence, drunkenness, and worldly worries and cares pertaining to [the business of] this life, and [lest] that day come upon you suddenly like a trap or a noose; 35For it will come upon all who live upon the face of the entire earth. 36Keep awake then and watch at all times [be discreet, attentive, and ready], praying that you may have the full strength and ability and be accounted worthy to escape all these things [taken together] that will take place, and to stand in the presence of the Son of Man.

The end is drawing near. There are now many signs that are showing up and happening around the world. Jesus told us that this was going to come. There will be terrible times and many will turn away from the faith, will be persecuted (for remaining in the faith), and will undergo many trials. Up to this time, we do not know when these things are going to happen full blown as the Bible describes it. However, we know that these signs are now evident.

Since these things are coming, we know we ought to be ready. Jesus also knew that as human beings, when we hear these great tribulations that can can be overwhelming, we tend to clinch and immediately worry think what to do and fearing of what's about to happen. Jesus assured us that we just need to be ALWAYS ON THE WATCH, TO PRAY, AND TO BE ON GUARD. These are inescapable things. They are going to happen. Yet, we cannot allow ourselves to be choked with worries with what's going on around us. They can indeed trap us and bind us down which will then cause us to get off guard spiritually.

We ought to continue to pray, be on guard and on the watch at all times. Consistently feeding ourselves with Godly things that our minds will not get bogged down with worries. After all, worrying will not change a thing. The tribulation is still going to happen. Worrying will not stop that. Just pray and stay close to Jesus!

:: It's true. I could start worrying about these things and forget about getting myself (and helping others) guarded through prayer and constant soaking in of God's Word and walking in the Spirit. I need to keep watch; not to be ignorant of these things; yet not worrying about them. God has everything under control and He just wants me to be on guard and ready, always watchful that I may not be trapped by the anxieties life with regards to these things. I must share this to others that they too will not be trapped, but will also guard and watch themselves. I want to be ready to meet my Lord. Whether I be persecuted (martyr-like) or not, I will continue to profess my belief in Christ. I'll lose my life FOR HIM!

>> Lord, may You empower me. Help me to stay watchful and to not allow these things to worry me and bog me down. I pray that you will help me to also encourage others not to be worried but to just stay on guard and always prayerful. Thank You for giving us this warning ahead of time. Remind me about this always. In Jesus' name, amen.
