Ezekiel 33:6
6 But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes the life of one of them, that man will be taken away because of his sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for his blood.'
- Ezekiel as a prophet was called to be a watchman.
- He has been given a great task to warn the people of what they do wrong and to encourage those who are righteous.
Principles:
There are people in need of a watchman. Those who will help guide them through, remind them of what ought to be done, rebuke if needed for them to get to the possession of their "promised land" (v. 25-26). Who are these watchmen? We are. Let's step it up to the position. Much is given, much is required. We gotta continually live up to the standards as well if we are to be watchmen. There will times when they will pretend to listen (v. 30-33) but not sinking in what was heard. Why? Evil hearts, carnal minds, and selfish motives. Regardless, as watchmen, we just do what we do and it's up to God to do the rest.
Personal:
..I am a watch(wo)man. I must live it up continually. Sucking in all the truths of God and living them out wholeheartedly. There are times when I would just careless for people because I don't want to get in to their business. But as watchman, I am held accountable if I see a "sword" coming and not "blowing the trumpet" on them. I have to do or say something about it. I must not have the i-don't-care attitude when it comes to this. This is serious matter. My warning could save a life. I gotta do it.
..I must not get affected when people don't respond immediately to my warning/the message, teaching I shared. I will just let God do the work in them; I will do my job faithfully of preparing my messages and teachings to the best of my ability and not be bogged down when I don't see results as I expect them to come. I'll let God do the work.
..In my life, I ought to continually live up to God's standards that I may "possess the land". To continually persevere in times of deep troubles, worries, and pains. (I ought not to worry anyway!) God has already prepared that "land" for me. When will He give it? When I am wholly ready. Who knows? He does. I'll trust, I'll wait. (v.25-26)
:: Lord, please help me to be an effective watch(wo)man. I pray that in my struggles, I will keep persevering. Just help me to have a mindset towards the goal of giving glory to You in all that I do. This is not for my gain, but for Your glory. You just decide to bless me back, I know, and I worship and thank You for that. I do not deserve anything but because You are good, You give me good things. Thank You! Help me to continually serve You with all my heart and to live for You no matter how hard things get everyday. Life is not about me but about bringing glory to Your name that the world may know that You are God! Thank You In Jesus' name, amen.
