Another Level of Trust

Jeremiah 48:7, 49:4, 16

[Moab]
7 Since you trust in your deeds and riches,
you too will be taken captive,
and Chemosh will go into exile,
together with his priests and officials.

[Amon]
4 Why do you boast of your valleys,
boast of your valleys so fruitful?
O unfaithful daughter,
you trust in your riches and say,
'Who will attack me?'

[Edom]
16 The terror you inspire
and the pride of your heart have deceived you,
you who live in the clefts of the rocks,
who occupy the heights of the hill.
Though you build your nest as high as the eagle's,
from there I will bring you down,"
declares the LORD.

// THOUGHTS:

.. In context, these are the words of the Lord through the prophet Jeremiah for these nations.
.. One thing they have in common is that, they trust in their own deeds, riches, and abilities thinking that they will be okay.
.. But we see that the Lord does not delight in that. He delights in those who trust in Him alone. Those who put their trust in the Lord - not in their deeds, their riches, or abilities.

Nahum 1:7
The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him

Psalm 125:1
[ A song of ascents. ] Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever.

Psalm 9:10
Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.

Psalm 40:4
Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.

.. It is obvious - Trust in the Lord comes with greater rewards and deep riches that the world cannot offer.
.. We hear this so many times, but yet, how many of us do really trust in God.
.. How much do we trust God in our situations? In our finances? In our future? In our endeavors?

// BELLE:

.. I need to learn to trust the Lord even MORE than I ever have.
.. Trusting in the Lord means not to rely on my own strength; even if I know I have the ability to do so, I will not use it for the wrong motives or for the wrong intentions. I must let God do the work - not to use riches or deeds to manipulate situations but to allow God to do the work within.
.. My deeds, abilities and riches (by faith!) are only there so I can use it to give glory back to God not for personal gain or personal glory.
.. I must always check myself daily whether my actions, the use of my abilities or the receiving of God's blessings are rightly used - and that I am using them in accordance to my trust in God.

// Oh Lord, thank You for You delight in my trusting in You. I pray that I will be taken off of relying on my own strength and abilities but rather be focused in trusting in You at all times. Thank you for taking me to another level of trust. You are real and true and Your Word is truth. Sanctify me daily Lord. In Jesus' name and by the power of the Holy Spirit, amen.
