Go Into

Wk 1 Day 2
Genesis 3-5; Luke 2

Luke 2:25-27a
25Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. 26It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord's Christ. 27Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts.

// THOUGHTS:

Simeon:
.. he was righteous and devout
.. he was waiting for the consolation of Israel
.. he was filled (or had) with the Holy Spirit
.. he was already told by the HS about Christ
.. he was obedient to the HS when prompted to go into the temple courts

The fulfillment of God's revelation to Simeon could've been stopped/hindered (by Simeon) if he didn't cooperate with the leading of the Holy Spirit.  That revelation was specific for him (Simeon - that he would not die before he sees Christ).  Simeon believed it.  He continued in his devotion and righteousness as he waited.  Then when it was time for the prompting of the Spirit for him to "go into" the temple (to finally see the Revelation - Christ), he was and has been ready.

What made the difference?  What if Simeon was so impatient during his journey of waiting for Christ?  What if he didn't obey when the Holy Spirit prompted him?  He would have missed out on everything.

The importance of remaining in Christ's righteousness (by our will through the grace of God) and our complete devotion to Him leads us to the fulfillment of God's personal revelation to us.  What has God revealed to us personally that is only specific to us?  How are we pursuing devotion and righteous living daily to bring forth its fulfillment in God's own time?  How sensitive are we to the Holy Spirit's prompting and direction daily?

It wasn't an accident that Mary and Joseph went into the temple at the same time Simeon went into the temple as well (the temple was a place where Simeon habitually went into; it wasn't new to him).  It was a divine appointment.  Meaning to say (a possibility) that Simeon, in the process of waiting, has been preparing himself for that moment to arrive.  When he went inside, he was ready for it.

// BELLE:

Devotion and righteous living.  Sensitivity to the Holy Spirit.  Preparation in the process of waiting for the fulfillment of God's personal revelation.

When the Holy Spirit prompts to "go into", that will be the time.  I just need to wait.  No sweat; will do my job faithfully and be sensitive to the Spirit at all times.  :)

// LORD, my God and King, You are awesome.  I do not comprehend Your greatness and the wisdom that You have.  You do things at the right time and speak of things at the time when it's needed.  Holy are You oh Lord.  Please by Your grace, help me to remain righteous in my living, my thought life, my words... and to continually be devoted to You in my duties and my relationship with You.  Help me to distinguish when You tell me to "go into" and you tell me otherwise.  May You hold me as You said in Your Word, You would.  I trust in You; in Your perfect time and the fulfillment of Your personal revelation specifically to me.  Thank you, in Jesus' name, amen.
