Luke 14:24, 38
“My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death,” he said to them. “Stay here and keep watch.”
v. 38 Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.”
// THOUGHTS:
Both verses, to me, relates in a couple of ways:
.. being careful (watchful) to make sure we don't forget the Lord (of the things He's already done for us)
.. to keep watch (vigilant and awake; careful) so we don't fall into the temptation.
It is important that we are careful, vigilant, and always watchful - remembering the things God has done for us (say, if He's taken us to another level of spiritual life, or promised land, etc.) and to make sure we are prayerful and watchful so we don't fall into the temptations of life.
Careful, watchful and vigilant - they go hand in hand.
It is easy for man to forget where God has brought them out of or has led them to (a better situation) and to easily fall into the temptation because of the lack of carefulness, watchfulness, and being vigilant (always "awake"). There shouldn't be any lag time or time to "relax" - we have to be always ready and watchful - mindful of what's going on (what things that are pulling us away from what we're supposed to do or become, or stopping us from doing the things that God has called us to do).
// BELLE:
Reason why sometimes I tend to have cold days are when I am not being careful, watchful and vigilant of the small things that creep in to stop me from becoming or doing God has asked me and called me to do. I will be MORE careful, watchful and vigilant. Always "analyzing" each thing that I do and say to make sure I am in-tact with my relationship with God.
// LORD, please help me to use the power you have entrusted me to have in order to do and become great in Your eyes alone. Forgive me for the times when I haven't been watchful or just allowing things to creep in that will cause me to be forgetting about what You have called me to do and to become. Please help me to be more conscious about it! In Jesus' name, amen.
