Week 9 Day 7.5
Numbers 35-36
Numbers 35:8
The towns you give the Levites from the land the Israelites possess are to be given in proportion to
// THOUGHTS:
.. The Levites didn't have their own inheritance since they were in-charge of taking care of the Tent of Meeting.
.. They were dependent on the provision of the Lord through the people's faithful tithes and offering as also the Lord commands.
.. Notice that the Lord commanded the Israelites to give the Levites IN PROPORTION to what they have - not more or less than what they possessed.
.. Hence, this tells us that the Lord is mindful on our possessions - asking only what we are capable of giving and handling. He will not ask for what we do not have or will stress just to have to give.
Principles learned:
.. "Levites" ought to be faithful in their job to teach the people about God's truths - promises and commands so they may have continual supply of their "inheritance" by virtue of the people's faithful giving.
.. "Israelites" ought to be faithful in their giving; ought to remember that the Lord minds what they give based on their means more than the amount of what was given; it's all about the obedience and the heart.
// BELLE:
As a "Levite", a worker in the church, I ought to be faithful in doing my job to teach and speak about God's truth to whom God has entrusted to me; with that, God will also bless me with the "inheritance" I also would be blessed with for daily supply and provision.
As an "Israelite", by virtue as a child of God, the Lord will only require to give based on what I have - whatever means I have. He doesn't need me to give more than what I can provide or give. He knows better. I just need to make sure I understand this and not over-qualify myself to give; although I desire to, if I can't, I just won't and God will hold me accountable for what I am able.
// Lord, thank you for this. Thank you for the reminder to be faithful and to just be content to give what I can - giving things according to my means. I know You know that I want to give more, but if it's beyond my means, you also won't hold me accountable for that. Please help me to always realize this daily that I may serve you more effectively in all areas of my Christian walk. In Jesus' name, amen.
