Elude

1 Samuel 19:10

Saul tried to pin him to the wall with his spear, but David eluded him as Saul drove the spear into the wall. That night David made good his escape.

Saul was “injuriated” with the spirit that caused him to want to pin David to the wall with his spear not even to mention, his jealousy of David’s successes.  Regardless of this event, David just “eluded” away from the situation instead of retaliating against Saul.  David made good his escape.

When things try to pin us to the wall – whether people or situations – we can elude away instead of retaliating.  May we make our escape good just like David did.

I’ve had situations that could have “pinned me to the wall” – this includes discouragements, people’s criticisms, life detours, and even people’s treatment to me – but instead of retaliating to that, I must just elude away and make my good escape.  Continue to do what I’m doing for the Lord and allow Him to vindicate me for whatever “spears” that are coming at me.

Lord, thank you for your comfort always.  I pray that You will continue to just help me in my time in elusion.  That you will be my guide and my encouragement at times of pinning, whether it be people or the situations that I face in life.  You always protect those who are obedient to You and I will do my best to always be under your covering.  I know I can do it through the power of Your Holy Spirit.  In Jesus’ name, amen.
