Actions, Doctrines, Perseverance

1 Timothy 4:16
Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

There really is a correlation between our doctrine and our actions in order for it to be effective.  We've so many people declare and reveal their doctrines on certain and yet their lives have not taken heed unto their beliefs.  Paul was clear to Timothy to make sure he is watching his actions and his teachings so he may save himself and for those who have heard his teachings.  Otherwise, we have been disqualified.  Paul also said to "continue in them" or to "persevere in them" because he knows that to live up to what we have taught others and ourselves will be difficult.

  • Watch your actions
  • Let your actions parallel to your doctrines, principles and teachings
  • Persevere and never give up
.. Need to always be in constant check of my life - that it is a display of what I am teaching; that others may see that it is possible to live up to what was taught to them - thus, saving them and giving them a visual example of its reality and its good consequences.  The Lord will never leave me in providing the strength to continue and persevere because He is the one that is ultimately glorified in all of these.

What's the motivation of us watching our actions to parallel with our doctrines?  God being pleased and the salvation of ourselves and our hearers.

// Lord, you are my strength as I continue and persevere in doing what I have taught others.  You know how difficult it is to do so, yet, I know that you are my strength and my motivation to keep going.  I just commit everything to you and letting you be the central figure of my life at all times.  In Jesus' name, amen.
