Be Fit

1 Timothy 5:22
Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, and do not share in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure.

  • It is important to not be hasty in appointing someone in office.
  • We ought to be sure first that they are "fit" to be in the position so that they may be well in handling the affairs of its office.
  • It is to the protection of the ministry to also not "share" the wrongdoings of one who's appointed in the office.
As a leader, this is a rule of thumb.  It's better not to have someone in office than for someone who is hastily put for position's sake but yet is not yet "fit" to be serving in such office until he or she is prepared (and/or as God says so, for that matter.)  I need to always be careful, and including myself in committing to some sort of cause.  I need to be "fit" first before committal of such vow.

As Proverbs says, "Don't trap yourself by making a rash promise to God and only later counting the cost." (Proverbs 20:25 NLT) thus it be important to "count the cost" or "be fit" first before appointing and/or dedicating oneself to a position or to commit to a vow.

// LORD, forgive me if I have failed you on this at some point in my realm of leaderhips.  I pray that You please help me to make things right, to some whom I may have done this rashly.  And even to the ones I have done to myself as well.  Help me to be very careful in vows and not be hasty about it.  Thank you for such reminder and I will obey you! in Jesus' name, amen.
