Patient and Careful

2 Timothy 4:2
2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.

As God's messenger, Timothy was reminded by Paul that there will be lots to do; and one was to preach the word.  And preaching the word would require GREAT PATIENCE and CAREFUL INSTRUCTION.  Why? Because people are hard to teach.  Unless they themselves have had a revelation with God regarding things that they hear, it is difficult to see results of what was being taught.  Hence, Paul tells Timothy to have patience and to have careful instruction or sound doctrine.

Patience and Careful Instruction -- in teaching the Word.  Patience for the people's responses; and Careful Instruction for sound doctrine and clear communication of the Word.

// Yes, patience among people, including myself, in anticipating their responses.  However, the people's response must not cause me to stop preaching the word, correcting, rebuking, and encouraging.  My job is to do it, have careful instruction and sound doctrine, and trust God that He is at work by being patient with people's responses to what was heard.  God is the one who will make the seed grow in their hearts.  I will be faithful with my job.

// Lord, indeed, you are so patient yourself that you put up with my spiritual goofiness sometimes; when I don't feel so on-fire or when at times I am so short-tempered with people and to myself.  I pray that You will help me to also be faithful; to work on simply giving careful instruction and sound doctrine at all times as I just continue to do my work that you've called me to do, faithfully and not stress out when people do not respond the way its expected in response to the message because you are in control of things and you called us to be patient with people.  I just lift up to you all the teachers out there spreading your Word that they'd do as you've told us to; to be patient and have careful instruction.  Thank you Lord for an awesome reminder.  In Jesus' name, amen.
