Ezekiel 2:6-7

And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or their words. Do not be afraid, though briers and thorns are all around you and you live among scorpions. Do not be afraid of what they say or be terrified by them, though they are a rebellious people. 7 You must speak my words to them, whether they listen or fail to listen, for they are rebellious.

It must’ve been a tough call for Ezekiel to be called to speak to a place where, beforehand, he already knows they won’t be listening.  Yet, he did it anyways in obedience to the Lord’s call in his life as a prophet.

A few things that’s really amazing to point out here is:

1.  God is still full of mercy in the midst of a bunch of rebellious people.

2.  God is wants to give people another chance.

3.  God remains who He is – merciful and just – never going about His pronouncement of judgment apart from His warnings.

4.  God calls us to be faithful to what He’s called us regardless the cost.

5.  God will empower and enable us to do what He’s called us to do.

// Though what God calls me to do may seem like a daunting task (seemingly difficult and impossible to do – such as loving those who hurt you or betrayed you, or simply following the call of God for a specific ministerial task, etc.) God will enable and empower me to do so.  He will give me the desire and ability to do what He wills for me to do (Philippians 2.)  Like Ezekiel, I may already know the reactions or results of what I will do as I obey the Lord, I will not be held accountable for it, I am only obeying and following the Lord’s instruction.

// LORD, whatever you call me to do help me not to be afraid to do them.  May You help me embrace the grace and power to do what You ask of me to do.  I know that there may be things I already know the answer or how people would react to my actions, but yet I know that You will NOT hold me accountable anymore once I obey what You have called me to do.  You will be glorified in all of my being and I choose to give You glory in all of what I do, think, say, and the direction my life leads towards.  Thank You Lord, in Jesus’ name, amen.
