Seemingly Discouraging

Psalm 42:4-6a

4 My heart is breaking
as I remember how it used to be:
I walked among the crowds of worshipers,
leading a great procession to the house of God,
singing for joy and giving thanks
amid the sound of a great celebration!

5 Why am I discouraged?
Why is my heart so sad?
I will put my hope in God!
      I will praise him again—
my Savior and 6 my God!

These verses remind me that there is a time for everything.  There is a time to be encouraged and time to have a season of “low energy” or seemingly discouraging days.  There is a time to lead and a time to step down (like where I am right now.)  But in light of all these, we can put our hope in God.  We can praise him again… our Savior and our God!

Yes there are times I feel discouraged that I am not doing exactly what I used to do – but I can still praise God, put my hope in Him, and trust that everything is for His glory and honor if I remain in Him.  I will never give on God, on Jesus, my Savior and Lord.  I have decided that even during seemingly discouraging situations, I will hope in the Lord – I will praise Him and allow Him to be glorified in due time.  I know God will never ever fail me.

Lord, thank YOU so much that You don’t change.  That You remain the same from the beginning of time.  During times of discouraging moments, help me to always look only to You for hope and give praise to You no matter what the circumstance is.  I know You will be there for me.  It’s You I live for, therefore, may You be glorified in all of the giving-up-of-self times.  That’s what You called me to do.  Help me to be faithful by Your amazing grace.  Thank YOU.  In Jesus’ name, amen.
