Ezekiel 18:19-24
19 “Yet you ask, ‘Why does the son not share the guilt of his father?’ Since the son has done what is just and right and has been careful to keep all my decrees, he will surely live. 20 The one who sins is the one who will die. The child will not share the guilt of the parent, nor will the parent share the guilt of the child. The righteousness of the righteous will be credited to them, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against them.
21 “But if a wicked person turns away from all the sins they have committed and keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, that person will surely live; they will not die. 22 None of the offenses they have committed will be remembered against them. Because of the righteous things they have done, they will live. 23 Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign LORD. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?
24 “But if a righteous person turns from their righteousness and commits sin and does the same detestable things the wicked person does, will they live? None of the righteous things that person has done will be remembered. Because of the unfaithfulness they are guilty of and because of the sins they have committed, they will die.
These verses reminds me greatly that the Lord is indeed JUST in all He does. He is serious when we are serious with Him. Praise God for His mercy and grace – He doesn’t count our wickedness of the past once we have turned our lives to Him and repented from our sins. He delights in us when we are walking in His ways and have surrendered our lives to Him.
A few things:
.. God is just.
.. God delights in our repentance.
.. God gives us even choice to change.
.. God will judge our actions – both good and bad.
// As one who is saved by grace through faith, I am more than thankful for what God has done for me. He has completely erased my past and now and I am completely living for Him. Day after day, I am living my life for Christ and I cannot trade my old living with my life with Christ now. I will daily surrender my life to Him, crucifying my flesh and allowing Him to continuously mold me and change me to be the person He wants me to be. With this thought, I know God knows my heart – He will be my justice when things around me may not seem so just. I know He is just so I don’t have to worry about how things will turn out because He will always make things justified in the end. I will just live according to His ways.
// Lord ~ indeed, I will live for YOU no matter how difficult it is at times. Praise You for your justice. I am grateful for You in everything! I WILL LIVE FOR YOU In Jesus’ name, amen.
