Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you - guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.
The good deposit - the Word of salvation given to us
To guard - to keep safe, to take care of, to handle carefully
With the help of the Holy Spirit - because by our own strength, we would not be able to take care of it as we should or have been called to
When i take care of something, i keep it safe, i guard it so no one will steal or do harm to it. As God has called us to guard the Word of God with the help of the Holy Spirit, i must make sure it is being kept safe, not ruined or stolen. We already know that the enemy is ip to steal, kill, destroy anything at any cost. We on the other hand must make sure the Word of God is safe in us that we wont allow anything to steal God's Word but rather we must really guard t as much as we can...
Anything that will steal and kill the enjoyment i have with the Word, i mist immediately stay away from. I have to continually guard it in my heart that no one or nothing will try to steal it..
Lord, i want to guard it but please help me. May nothing distract me or take away Your powerful Word in my heart. It could also that you want to breathe fresh air thru ur Word and because if i dont guard it and allow worrries or distractions to overwhelm me, then i would have not guarded what youve entrusted me. So pls help me Lord. Thank u for ur Word. In Jesus' name amen
