Simply.. Healed

John 5:6-8

6 When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?”

7 “Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.”

8 Then Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.”

There will be people who have been waiting to be healed for a long time but there is “no one to help into…” it.  Someone seems to always get there ahead!  But Jesus said to just “Get up! Pick up and Walk!”

There’s no more profound words than what Jesus said – it’s easy yet we all know, it’s difficult to do.  Jesus simply said, “Get up” then “Pick up” then “Walk.”   It’s a nice equation to healing:

Don’t stay down = Get up!

Pick up the pieces

Start walking (again)

Don’t let the situations around us which causes us to be “sick” to keep us down.  We need to GET UP!  Pick up our mats… and start walking again in freedom, healed and whole!

The hardest maybe is to start believing that we can be healed of whatever situations we are in – yet God calls us to have faith and to just get up!  Pick up the pieces, perhaps toss it (as we won’t need the mat to lay down on anymore) and start walking.

I need that!  I need to get up.  I need to pick up and toss whatever “mats” I may have laid on for a while thinking that “someone else has already gone ahead of me..” and just start walking again.  Jesus said I can, so I must.  If I just believe God’s words just like he said to the lame man, then I can also experience the healing power of God!  Thank YOU Jesus!

Lord, I want to be healed.  Help me to believe and do my part as You said in Your word.  Help me as I get up and pick up and toss the mat and start walking again on to the next journey of life.  I know you are with me and I believe Your Word so I know it can happen.  I just entrust to You everything, keep me in Your hands and arms for there I find safety.  In Jesus’ name, amen.
