Ruth 3:9b-11
“I am your servant Ruth,” she said. “Spread the corner of your garment over me, since you are a kinsman-redeemer.”
10 “The Lord bless you, my daughter,” he replied. “This kindness is greater than that which you showed earlier: You have not run after the younger men, whether rich or poor. 11 And now, my daughter, don’t be afraid. I will do for you all you ask. All my fellow townsmen know that you are a woman of noble character.
I find this particular verse very interesting. A few things we can see here:
- Ruth was obedient to Naomi's instructions
- Ruth trusted that Naomi had good advice
- Ruth was bold to let Boaz know what her intentions were at that moment
- Ruth was SURE of her intentions and did not lead Boaz in the wrong direction
If there's one thing that I need to be better at is to be SURE of my intentions and motives as I keep moving towards obeying the leading of the Lord whether through His word directly or through Godly guidance (elders and godly counsel). I need to continually be SURE of my decisions and less indecision. When I know that I am decided of something, I can move towards that. I can commit to do what heads up to that direction instead of being tossed back and forth. BE SURE and DON'T LEAD ANYONE in the wrong path because of my indecision.
Lord, please give me wisdom to be firm in my decisions - that I won't lead anyone astray by my indecision. I want to be an example like Ruth was and not allowing indecision to get me and other people distracted. Guide me through daily that I may only please you in everything. In Jesus' name, amen.
