Look at the Grand Scheme of Things

So then, my dear friends, stand firm and steady. Keep busy always in your work for the Lord, since you know that nothing you do in the Lord's service is ever useless. (1 Corinthians 15:58 GNT)

This verse concludes the context of when Paul was sharing to the Corinthians the big picture of our life in Christ - death to life forever. We sometimes think of this verse as just something to help us keep going when we are weary or tired in doing 'work' for The Lord. Yet, though it is true, it is way more than that... It is reminding us that the 'work' we do for The Lord is for a greater scheme of things - the resurrection and its power. We know that Christ, who gave the first example of resurrection, raised from the dead, is a precursor to what's about to occur to us as well - resurrect at its proper time. Therefore, this verse tells us to KEEP BUSY ALWAYS in the work FOR The Lord because it is never useless. It is to let people know that we will LIVE with The Lord during the resurrection.

If we, indeed, grasp this grander scheme, then we know that we will never be lazy in doing the work of The Lord. The ministry God has placed in our hands at the moment is to let people know that we will LIVE with The Lord. Hence, keep your eye on that goal - the goal of letting people know that Christ has conquered death.

// Many times, I get caught up with the little things - the little petty details of ministry when I should really be thinking of the 'big picture' - the grand scheme of things, death conquered by life! If I just keep my eyes on that, I believe it would be hard to lose heart on the work of The Lord no matter what comes along the way and the disappointments of the little details.

.. Lord, please help me to keep my eyes on the big picture - the resurrection and the life that conquered death. I enjoy working for You yet the small details is what sometimes cuts in the way of looking at the big picture. Lord, please help me to look at the grand scheme of your purpose for the little 'work' I do for you. In Jesus' name, amen.
