Pass It On
7As long as Joshua lived, the people of Israel served the Lord, and after his death they continued to do so as long as the leaders were alive who had seen for themselves all the great things that the Lord had done for Israel. 8The Lord's servant Joshua son of Nun died at the age of 110. 9He was buried in his own part of the land at Timnath Serah in the hill country of Ephraim north of Mount Gaash. 10That whole generation also died, and the next generation forgot the Lord and what he had done for Israel.
Judges 2:7, 10
Leaders play a vital role in the lives of the people in a certain generation. This passage is reminding us the importance of 'passing on' the legacy of faith in Christ Jesus.
'As long as the leaders... who had seen for themselves all the great things that the Lord had done..." means experiencing the power of God personally in order to 'pass it on' genuinely.
What we lack nowadays is the personal revelation and experience in the Lord during our times with Him (personally and corporately). The lack of this could mean superficial and/or lukewarm leadership - which then when a whole generation dies, the next generation will never know what God can do and has done in the past.
Leadership entails the 'passing on' of that revelation and experience by allowing God to use the vessel (leader) to have the followers experience and understand the gravity of the experience (which is the 'great things that the Lord has done'.)
// The last thing I want to hear is a dead generation for failing in doing my job in 'passing on' Jesus to the next generation. I desire to daily experience and have fresh download of revelation from God that I may be a genuine leader - living a life of integrity; without blame. I still work on that daily - and I fail a lot. Only by God's grace that I am able to live day by day and still be a 'leader'.
It is my desire to 'pass on' a legacy of faith in Christ Jesus through my life - my experiences and sharing the revelation of God's Word to others with the way I live my life. Today and on wards, I want to live a life without blame.
// Lord, how can I do this without your strength and power? No way will I be able to live a blameless life without Your strength. Help me to know how to handle the smallest situations in order to let your Light shine through me. I pray that You would help me to stand firm and be bold in my beliefs. Guide me through as i guide others. I desire to be a 'hot' (not lukewarm) leader - on fire for the Glory of Your Name! In Jesus' name, amen.
