But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.” When Naomi realized that Ruth was determined to go with her, she stopped urging her. (Ruth 1:16-18 NIV)
Ruth knew who turn away from and who to follow. Because her own people worshipped idols, she was willing to turn away from that and become a foreigner as a sign of her changed of course in life. Because of her obedience to be wholly following The Lord, The Lord blessed her so much beyond what she had probably expected herself...
My obedience to God brings all kinds of blessings and open doors!
.. Lord, just the thought of obedience makes me think of super hard things to do. Yet I know that you only asked to obey for the sake of your glory and for your blessings to be released. Lord, help me to be obedient to you, In everything. In Jesus' name amen.
