Toil

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God. (Ecclesiastes 3:11, 13 NIV)

In your majesty ride forth victoriously in the cause of truth, humility and justice; let your right hand achieve awesome deeds. (Psalm 45:4 NIV)

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:10 NIV)

Good deeds and toils to enjoy is a gift from God.  God has gifted us with talents and abilities in order to "achieve awesome deeds" because God has prepared us "to do good works" since the beginning of time.  Since we know that King Solomon expressed that toil may be meaningless, it is also to our enjoyment to "find satisfaction in all" of our toil as a gift from God!  What is the balance?  Work and toil for our enjoyment and satisfaction, not idolizing or putting more priority on it than what is more important to us -- fear and love of God vertically (Him) and horizontally (people).  

.. Need to enjoy my toils.  Need to weed out idols within the toil -- workaholic attitude or being "too busy" for more important things. Enjoyment is part of the balance. If a certain toil is causing us to be stressed out, stop and rethink - balance!  For doing things for The Lord is peaceful.

.. Lord, thank you for the opportunity to toil and work for our enjoyment and satisfaction.  You know our hearts so well and even my own personal desires when it comes to productivity and doing work.  Help me not to undersestimate the power of enjoyment - that everything I do will be a joy because you want me to enjoy rather than just enduring in it.  More importantly help me to see daily work as an opportunity to express my fear and love for you no matter what comes my way.  Thank you!
