Shrinking?

And, “But my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back.” (Hebrews 10:38 NIV)

It is our call to continue in our journey with The Lord and never ever shrink back.  If we knew the value of what Christ has done for us we would have continual reverence and gratefulness of what He has done.  Thus, shrinking back could actually be an act of rebellion and ungratefulness for what The Lord has done for us.

Verse 39 goes on to say "But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved."  This is an encouragement for us to NEVER ever shrink back in fear because we BELONG to those who persevere and who have faith and are saved!

Which areas in our lives do we shrink back in? Sometimes in the "littlelist" things - our pride, our own bad motives, our forgetfulness of the commands of God, our negligence in prayer and even simply giving glory back to God.  Let our actions be fruit of our righteousness by faith in The Lord not shrinking back subtly or purposefully - forgetting the value of what Christ has already done for us on the cross.

// Lord, may I never shrink back but let my life be a continual expression of gratefulness and fruit of righteousness for I know you do not take pleasure in those who shrink back. In Jesus' name, amen.
